Jenna Wortham. “When Everyone Can Be ‘Queer,’ Is Anyone?” New York Times Magazine (July 12, 2016).
"people who consider themselves straight, but reject heteronormativity, might even call themselves queer" - In the same way that people who are in a heterosexual couple may call each other partner to reject heteronormativity, but even though this normalizes it for LGBT+ couples, does it take away from their identity and not appreciate their struggle?
Queer Eye - embodying the problem with the word 'queer' because it cements the use only by homosexuals as well as perpetuating the exposure of gay men whilst forgetting the rest of the community.
"After all, “queer” never belonged to us; it was foisted upon us, and we reconfigured it to make it ours."
